The Client’s Vision
Apollo Fire Detectors wanted to upgrade electrical, fire safety and data systems within their Havant facility while supporting the relocation of the production line to the ground floor as part of wider future growth plans. The work needed to be delivered safely and efficiently while allowing the site to remain operational.
The Result
The project was completed on schedule with all areas handed back as planned, providing new electrical infrastructure, improved fire safety systems and reliable data connectivity throughout the facility. These upgrades also supported the relocation of the production line to the ground floor as part of the facility’s wider modernisation and future growth plans.
Scope of Works
New electrical distribution system and switchgear, Lighting and emergency lighting installation, L2 fire alarm system using Apollo fire detection devices, Cable containment systems supported by Gripple Fast Track containment system, Structured data cabling installation by Pronet Connect, Testing and Certification
“D Squared have been a great company to be partnered with for this project. Sub-contractors and employees of D Squared have been very respectful of the client’s employees and to the health and safety of the TJC Construction site regarding safety first. They have met every deadline and handover date with no delays and hold very high standards of work. From a TJC perspective we look forward to working on more projects together in the near future.”

About The Customer
Apollo Fire Detectors is a global manufacturer of fire detection technology used in buildings around the world. From their headquarters in Havant, Hampshire, their systems help protect people and property in more than 100 countries.
The Challenge
The primary challenge of the project was delivering significant electrical and infrastructure upgrades within a building that remained fully operational.
Several areas of the facility needed to be stripped back before new systems could be installed while production continued elsewhere in the building. This required careful planning, strict programme management and phased handovers to ensure operations could continue without disruption.
The Solution
D Squared Group led the electrical installation on the project, working closely with the main contractor, TJC Construction, to keep the programme on track and meet key deadlines.
The project specification and drawings were developed by Fingerprints Studios, providing a clear framework for the installation during both the tender stage and construction phase.
A new electrical distribution system, including switchgear supplied by Hager, was installed to support the upgraded areas of the building. New lighting and emergency lighting systems were installed throughout, incorporating energy monitoring to support ongoing energy management.
Cable containment systems were installed using the Gripple Fast Track containment system, providing a clean and efficient method of supporting and organising the installation. This allowed the works to be completed efficiently while maintaining a high standard of finish within a live working environment.
As part of the fire safety works, a new L2 fire alarm system was installed using Apollo fire detection devices, delivering coverage across escape routes and higher-risk areas.
Alongside this, Pronet Connect delivered the structured data installation, supplying and installing a complete structured cabling system in line with the project drawings. High-speed Cat 6A data cabling was installed from the main data cabinet to network points within the IP Lab, Reel Store and SEMs.
The data installation was fully tested, with certification and documentation provided on completion.
Throughout the project, works were carefully coordinated to allow the facility to remain fully operational.
The Results
Despite the challenges of working within a live operational facility, D Squared Group successfully delivered the project with all deadlines and phased handovers achieved on time.
The works were carefully coordinated between D Squared Group, the main contractor and the wider project team to ensure the installation progressed smoothly while allowing the facility to continue operating throughout the project.
The completed installation provides Apollo Fire Detectors with new electrical infrastructure, improved fire safety systems and reliable data connectivity across the main operational areas of the building.
These upgrades also supported the relocation of the production line to the ground floor as part of the wider modernisation and future growth plans for the facility.
The project demonstrates D Squared’s Group ability to deliver complex electrical and fire safety installations within live operational environments, where careful coordination and minimal disruption are critical.
