The Clients Vision

Pearl Fit Out were handling the players’ entrance refurbishment at Wimbledon Court 1. The world’s top tennis players walk through it. Millions watch it live. No pressure, then! They needed corridor lighting, power and supply for LED signage. All needed to be done quickly, on a tight budget, and without disrupting everything else going on around.

Meeting the Brief

We won the job with a clear and practical proposal. Once on site, things shifted. Lighting designs changed, control systems were added, and the timeline stayed tight. We worked directly with the client, kept the spec moving, and delivered what was needed without slowing anyone else down. Everything landed on time and to a high standard.

About the Client

Wimbledon is home to one of the world’s most iconic sporting venues: the All England Lawn Tennis Club, host of the prestigious annual Championships. Known globally for its tradition, heritage, and meticulous standards, every part of the site is maintained and upgraded with care, especially in areas seen on international broadcast. For this project, we worked alongside Pearl Fit Out, a specialist contractor with an impressive track record of high-end refurbishments across the Wimbledon complex. Their focus on quality and finish was a perfect match for the expectations of this renowned venue.

The Challenge

This wasn’t a tucked-away project. It was a live site in full swing, just weeks before the Championships. High security. Heavy footfall. No room for error.

The spec kept shifting. The timelines didn’t. We were dealing with complex infrastructure and strict access protocols, alongside other contractors working to the same hard deadline. Everything had to land right, first time.

The Solution

We’re a NICEIC approved contractor that knows how to deliver clean installs on live, fast paced jobs. Court 1’s players’ entrance had a fixed handover, a moving spec, and no margin for error.

We installed corridor spotlights, new downlights, power and data outlets, and supplied power for the LED signage, which we also provided. When switching requirements changed, we built in wireless control for screens and lighting. All of it was coordinated closely with the Pearl Fit Out team. Every change was reviewed and acted on without delay.

We followed Wimbledon’s safety rules, worked cleanly alongside other trades, and kept everything compliant from install to handover. The work was signed off without issue. The job stayed on track and was handed over ready.

“It was a tight programme on a live site with a shifting spec, but we kept it on track. The client was happy with the way we managed the job from start to finish.”
— Geoffrey Gwynn, Project Manager, D Squared

The Results

The install was completed on time and ready before the championships began. Everything was tested, signed off and working as intended. The finish met the standard required for a space that goes live to a global audience. The client was happy with both the process and the result.

A short deadline. A high-profile site. Cameras about to roll. This wasn’t the place for mistakes. We kept things tight, adapted as the spec shifted, and delivered exactly what was needed; clean finish, no disruption, right on time.

Accreditations Brought to the Project

This was a high-profile and time-sensitive job, so having the right accreditations in place gave the client full confidence from day one:

  • NICEIC Approved Contractor – Confirmed our competence across all electrical works delivered on site.

  • ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 – Reinforced our commitment to quality, environmental standards, and health & safety.

  • CHAS Gold and Constructionline Gold – Helped streamline procurement and demonstrated we met rigorous pre-qualification standards.

  • Cyber Essentials – Offered added assurance for the digital infrastructure and data cabling involved in the power and switching systems.

  • JOSCAR – Highlighted our credibility in high-security environments, particularly relevant for a nationally televised site like Wimbledon.

Note: While BAFE accreditations (SP203-1 for Fire Alarms and SP203-4 for Emergency Lighting) are part of our offering, they were not directly applicable on this project.
